The Only Path to Winning

Today it is the Steel City Derby. Sheffield Wednesday V Sheffield United. Born and raised in Sheffield, this game matters to me. I am a big Sheffield Wednesday fan and we go into the game as the underdogs. But, anything can happen...

Before I meet my friends at the pub, I thought it would be the perfect time to bring up winning versus losing, but in the context of porn addiction.
For 9 years I was losing against the addicted part of my mind (APOTM).
I felt like I was making progress by going on streaks, but then eventually I'd end up relapsing.
Through getting the necessary help from Mari Paulus, I've realised that losing was inevitable. I always had a defensive approach. I removed triggers and I stayed busy. This was based helplessness and it was like the APOTM was always coming after me, instead of me coming after it. Today, if Sheffield Wednesday only focused on defending, they'd potentially squeeze out a draw, but chances are - they'd end up conceding some goals and would lose. One thing would be guaranteed - they wouldn't win.
The only path to winning against the APOTM is to understand it's tactics and strategies and counter them with the rational part of the mind. This is what we train people to do within the Beyond Compulsion Academy. We provide people with the required training and give them the right tool (a 5-Fact script) so they can use the rational part of their mind when they experience inevitable desires. I like to win and I like seeing my clients win too. Porn addiction recovery shouldn't be a battle or a fight. There are different parts within us.
There is the rational mind and there is the addicted part of the mind. When we know how to deal with the APOTM correctly, we can enjoy winning without ever relying on the exhausting, defensive nature of using willpower. We outsmart the APOTM with strategy and a proactive, attacking approach. This is how you overcome a porn addiction and feel good about doing so.
Attack is the best form of defence.
