Self-improvement may not be helping you...

Last night I went to sleep really early and woke up feeling very fresh. I decided to go to the gym with my girlfriend and then we went and grabbed a coffee and took a walk around the canal in Ancoats, Manchester. Going to the gym early on a Saturday morning felt easy. However, in the past when I was in the porn addiction - this would have seemed like an impossible task. I probably would've spent time scrolling in bed, feeling stuck, and lazy.

Ironically, back then, I used to consume tons of self-improvement content and yet nowadays I steer well clear of such information. If I have a problem I want to work on, it's usually going to be to do with the way in which I am thinking about something.

As such, I'd usually use the Beyond Compulsion principles to work it out and change my thinking, or if I was finding it really hard - I'd ask Mari Paulus for some help.

When you change your thinking, you change how you feel. The only reason you've been unable to stop porn up until now is because you've been thinking about things in an unproductive way. Finding it hard to get out of an addiction is not to do with your sexual desires or who you are.

It's not to do with your "habits" or lack of motivation. It's to do with your thinking.

And it's to do with your approach towards dealing with compulsive desire. Fortunately, your thinking can be changed and due to neuroplasticity - your brain can be transformed and rewired too.

It is possible to put addiction in the past, take charge of your life, and feel great about doing it, without any willpower or resistance! If you want to learn more about how self-improvement content actually kept me stuck in a relapse cycle for over 9 years, feel free to watch this YouTube video.
